Looking back…
With the 2024 Wedding Season upon us we love to look back and remember the beautiful celebrations we were honoured to play a part in in 2023.
We kicked of the 2023 Wedding Season with a beautiful outdoor spring wedding at the families local farm. The ceremony was hosted in the brides beautifully renovated walled gardens just outside Aberdeen. It was like something out of a magical world with a wildflower back drop and vases beaming with fresh flowers from Hays Flowers the whole day was full of smiles. Following a relaxed afternoon reception full of fun canapes the couple managed to sneak away across the fields to their picturesque Elegant Pitches stretch tent. They entered the tent in awe as the tent brimmed with fresh flowers and greenery from Hays Flowers. After all the worry of having to move the plan for the tent only a few months prior as the ground was too soft. Our director Lawrence was able to advise with his experience in farming and ensure that all the plans were in place and came together for the special day. The guests were all able to enjoy the relaxed Scottish meal with an all time favourite of haggis bon bons and Moo pie.

Vegan wedding…
We also catered our first fully Vegan wedding in 2023 and this was so much fun to be part of. Creating a menu that not only the vegan bride and groom loved but also the Non-vegan family and friends. Many of the family and friends were sceptical of the couples idea to have a fully vegan wedding but the couple were determined to show their guests that they can all enjoy vegan food too and let me tell you they did just that. As the couple thanked us following the wedding they said “You made our vision come to life and our dream of having a vegan wedding was made possible because of you, everyone loved the food”.
The bride and groom flew up from London to enjoy their special wedding weekend in the beautiful Cluny Castle. The wedding was full of special touches from the couple from napkins with fun facts about the couple on to personalised coffee cups from Vintage Koffie during their afternoon reception. After enjoying lots of garden games in the glorious Scottish sun the guests made their way into an intimate dinner in the Tennants hall at Cluny Castle. The beautifully handcrafted trestle tables from Rustic Look Aberdeen were elegantly decorated with wild flowers from Isla Duncan alongside the couples own candles. We provided beautiful ornate glass charger plates from Whitehouse Crockery which really helped to give the table that something special alongside the flowers and greenery. Following the speeches as the rain started to drizzle outside, we commenced the dining with a warm roasted chestnut mushroom salad which guests devoured. The guests were then given a choice for main course of vegan parmesan, Chablis and asparagus risotto or Thai green curry, with a fairly even split guests cleared the plates and many even asked if there were seconds for later. The dinner was then finished with a chocolate and raspberry tart with raspberry compote and our Roaring Stag coffee locally roasted in Deeside alongside a piece of vegan fudge.

Farming in our roots…
We are probably most well known for catering large local farming weddings here in the North East. With our director Lawrence working in the agricultural industry and speaking with local farmers on the daily basis, many have become friends and can think of no other than Country Flavours to cater the special moments in their lives.
One of Lawrences farming clients asked us to cater their daughters wedding as she married her sweetheart who just happened to be the son of another farmer and our local headteacher. We knew we had to be part of this special day. Of course, the wedding had to be held at the family farm with tractors holding signs and beers it was the perfect day for the lovely couple and all their family and friends. The ceremony was held in the local church as the guests all followed on to the beautiful Elegant Pitches stretch tent to enjoy the reception.
Guests arrived and were greeted with drinks served by 10 Dollar Shake and canapes served by ourselves. The couple enjoyed selecting the menu for their special day as they came along to our special wedding tasting room with both sets of parents they tried many canapes, starters, main courses and a selection of desserts. They then decided on a choice for starter of haggis bon bons or Connage brie followed by a choice for main course of Scottish steak Bordelaise or Red pepper stuffed chicken with a vermouth reduction. The meal had to finish with something sweet but with so much to choose from the couple selected a trio of desserts to include chocolate brownie, lemon & white chocolate cheesecake and Eton mess. The food didn’t end there as they had to cater for all their evening guests partying the night away and what better evening snack than our posh chips station with a rustic twice cooked chips and selection of toppings to include warm curry sauce and gravy, bacon bits and cheese. The couple and guests had a wonderful day as they thanked us after saying “It was absolutely amazing!”.
